2026 Mark Gearhart Memorial Graduate Student Award Recipient

We are pleased to announce that Alejandra Arevalo from The Ohio State University has been selected as the 2026 recipient of the Mark Gearhart Memorial Graduate Student Award. Alejandra was selected from an excellent pool of applicants for this annual award, which recognizes a graduate student who is completing, or has just completed, advanced academic or professional training in veterinary epidemiology, public health, or preventive medicine.
Alejandra will present her paper, “Environmental prevalence of Salmonella Dublin in midwest 1 U.S. dairy-beef operations: Associations with biosecurity and farm management,” immediately following the Schwabe Symposium at the 2026 Conference of Research Workers in Animal Diseases (CRWAD) annual meeting in Chicago at 11:30 am on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
