The Association for Veterinary Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine (AVEPM) is a professional organization for all persons involved in advancing veterinary epidemiology and preventive medicine. Its membership includes researchers, government scientists, practitioners, and students globally.

What the AVEPM Does

The AVEPM advances veterinary epidemiology and preventive medicine through education, training, and knowledge exchange.

The Association fulfills its mission by:

  • Promoting the dissemination of knowledge and best practices in veterinary epidemiology and preventive medicine
  • Organizing and sponsoring continuing education programs for professionals in the field
  • Partnering in the delivery of workshops, conferences, seminars and symposia
  • Supporting graduate education by sponsoring student awards and travel scholarships
  • Hosting the annual Schwabe Symposium, which recognizes an individual’s lifetime achievement in veterinary epidemiology

2027 recipient of the Calvin W. Schwabe Award

The AVEPM Board of Directors is pleased to announce that the 2027 recipient of the Calvin W. Schwabe Award is Dr. H. Morgan Scott!  The 2027 Schwabe Symposium, honoring Dr. Scott’s distinguished career, will take place during the 2027 CRWAD meeting in Chicago (https://crwad.org/). The symposium theme and featured speakers will be announced soon.
